I watched dragon’s den for the first time last week. In fact, i came home late from work, ditched my evening run, picked up a box of pizza and sat in front of the tv with my Man. (Shocking, but i really wanted to see this first hand!) He warned me that they were harsh. I love him for thinking that — because to him, these ideas of entrepreneurs were so sacred, they were their own after all, and he didn’t like someone else picking them apart. I on the other hand felt like it was simply yet another meeting in a board room…it wasn’t that scary. Bring it on, I thought!

I later sparked the conversation with Someone Remarkable who has ‘been there done that’ with venture capital and start up dough. She told me only once your own skin is in the game — you’ve racked up credit card debit, you’ve taken out a second mortgage, you’ve delayed paying off student debt and the list goes on, would any sort of financial backing event talk to you about your idea. Hummmm…it got me thinking…
I want to land on dragon’s den…but i more badly want to land on Oprah’s couch! And one day, I want to fund dreams — the angel investor who doesn’t want to support the “starving” entrepreneur. But rather, I want the person who wants to come alive! Who has more passion for their pitch and fire in their belly than everyone who appeared on the show last week. I’m only starting on embarking upon the dream….and as soon as I say NoMo….i feel more alive. I stand taller, i smile bigger, i talk louder and no ONE can knock me down.
